Mack Myers is an American founder, designer and software developer based in Columbus, Ohio. He co-founded Pieces, an ambient AI memory platform, with Tsavo Knott. He served as Chief Product Officer and Chief Operating Officer from incorporation in 2020 until 2026.
At Pieces he led front-end engineering for the desktop application and owned the shared module architecture its plugins were built on. He was the largest single contributor to the flagship app, and ran the company's administrative operations alongside it.
Mack started at Miami University in biochemistry, aiming at radiology. The draw was that it is a visual job. He thinks in pictures and structures, and reading a body off a scan seemed like a good use of that.
It did not last. He had tested out of Calculus I and II before he arrived, so he switched into the mathematics curriculum with finance in mind.
What he turned out to be good at was neither one. It was looking at a whole business at once and seeing how the parts fit together. He graduated in Professional Writing in 2016 and picked it on purpose, because he wanted to be able to argue an idea in writing and put that next to the business instinct.
He met Tsavo Knott at Miami and the two started Mesh before either had graduated. Mack skipped his own graduation ceremony to sit in a meeting closing the company's first $200K angel investment.
Mack co-founded Mesh with Tsavo Knott while the two were finishing at Miami. It was a collaboration tool for universities that built itself: the roster, the group and the shared workspace came pre-assembled, so students did not have to set all that up again every term. The company raised $600K.
For the first two years the product itself was built by an outsourced development firm, while Mack and Knott worked with Miami University to pilot it on campus.
None of it paid yet. From the middle of 2018 into the following year Mack worked at StudioThink, a boutique marketing agency in Cleveland, as a digital account coordinator, handling clients' website builds, social media, content and brand direction, and kept Mesh moving around it.
By early 2019 they could go full time, and did. Mack had been living at home since he graduated, and the move to Cincinnati was not clean: about a month between friends' apartments at Miami and a run of Airbnbs before he could take a one-bedroom of his own. There were mornings he woke up not knowing where he was going to brush his teeth.
They pivoted before the year was out. Mesh wound down while Pieces was ramping up, so the two overlapped rather than one following the other.

Two things he built for himself, both for problems he ran into every day.
A command line tool for working across a lot of GitHub repositories at once. On any given day at Pieces he had issues and pull requests open across hundreds of them, and opening github.com for each one was the slow path. mbot filed an issue or triggered an AI review on his behalf from whatever window he already had in front of him. Repo aliases did most of the work. pfx meant pieces-app/pieces_for_x, so filing a bug against it was one line.

Things Mack has done himself rather than managed someone else doing. Most of them ran for years at Mesh or Pieces.

Desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux, web and mobile apps, command line tools, and plugins for browsers and IDEs. He was lead front-end engineer on the Pieces desktop client and wrote 5.7 times more of it than the next engineer. The client carried its own database, so the job was never only the front end. 222 releases in under four years, out through ten app stores and marketplaces.
Marketing sites, landing pages, documentation, and this one. Brief, design, build, deploy, then the analytics after it ships. He does all five himself.
He drew Mesh for two years before anyone wrote a line of it, then designed every surface of the Pieces desktop client. The work goes well past the product: websites, email, social, release notes, conference booths, and collateral down to the cards, stickers and banners. He laid out the office too. He can direct a brand, but someone else should draw it.
Product demos, feature walkthroughs, release videos and launch clips, recorded and cut by him rather than briefed out to someone. Screen capture through the edit, motion and captions, to a finished file on a site or a channel.
Dozens of junior employees came up under him at Pieces, and not only engineers. Designers, marketers and support people too. The engineering half of that is measurable, 2,563 code reviews for 41 colleagues. The rest is not, and it was mostly sitting with someone until the work got better and they understood why.
Ran a team of eight on the desktop client and set how code got reviewed there. He reviewed more than he authored in six of his eight active years, and his own output still went up. Median time to merge was 1.7 hours.
$600K at Mesh, $26M at Pieces. It started with a $180,000 SAFE in December 2020 and ran through convertible notes and a priced Seed to a Series A led by Drive Capital at a $44M post-money. He built the decks and the numbers with the CEO, then did the legal work with counsel on every round and every bridge between them.
Six years of Carta across two companies, run by him rather than farmed out to a firm. Issuances, option grants, conversions, and the reporting on all of it.
Investor updates, board reporting and diligence, through a Seed, a Series A and the notes around them. He has been on the receiving end of what a firm wants every quarter once the money lands.
He and the CTO handled 3,127 support tickets between them, both while holding engineering jobs. The angry user and the person who would fix the bug were rarely more than one step apart.
He can talk to almost anyone: an engineer, a lawyer, an investor, a customer having a bad day, someone whose work has nothing to do with software. He has run a security review with a public company's IT team and walked a first-time user through a hotkey on the same afternoon, and he can write the document for either one. It is most of what makes a customer, or a team, trust you quickly.
He negotiated the Google Cloud contract, a multi-year deal worth $2.8M in its first year with enough credits attached to change what the company could afford to build. He held the working relationships with Microsoft, OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, OpenRouter and Sentry, and did the commercial terms across the rest of the stack.
Pricing, checkout and subscriptions on Stripe and Paddle, including the merchant-of-record call. Selling to one developer and selling to their employer need different plumbing, and Pieces did both.
Payroll, benefits, accounting, tax, banking, state registrations and vendors. Six years of it by hand, for ninety-three people across ten countries, twenty-five on payroll at the peak.
State and federal filings, done himself. He also took Pieces through SOC 2 Type II, which is what opened up the buyers who insisted on it.
